Find the compassionate support you need to not just survive—but thrive through every season of motherhood with online therapy for moms throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Illinois.

Being a mom isn’t easy…

I see you, mama.

I see how hard you’re trying and how tired you are.

Most of all, I see how deeply you love your kids.

…even when you’re exhausted

…even when you want to throw in the towel.

…even when you don’t know what to do next.

…even when you’re mad at them, or they’re mad at you.

Nothing prepares you for motherhood.

The newborn snuggles on your chest. The delight you get from their belly laughs. The pride you feel each time they reach a new milestone.

But there’s also the sleepless nights. The constant wondering if you’re doing motherhood “right.” The doubt that you have what it takes to be a good mom. The shame you feel after raising your voice at your kids yet again.
One minute you’re beaming with pride and joy in your role as mother, and the next you’re shaking your head, fighting back tears, feeling like a complete failure.

You find yourself wondering…

“Am I a good mom?

Maybe you’re a new mom who loves your baby… and yet you find yourself rocking her to sleep at night wondering why you can’t stop crying, why you don’t feel happier, and when you last showered.

Maybe you’re a stay-at-home mom who loves your kids… and yet sometimes the monotony of keeping people clean, clothed, and fed every day is wearing you down.

Maybe you’re a working mom who loves your kids… and yet the exhaustion of working all day and then coming home to feed your family, help with homework or bathtime, and get kids to bed is taking a toll.

Maybe you’re a single mom who loves your kids… and yet you’re tired and overwhelmed from all the hats you have to wear—just to keep life afloat for you and your family.

Maybe you’re a mom of teenagers who loves your kids… and yet you’re also feeling displaced by their growing independence and wondering what’s in store for the next season of your life.

Maybe you’re a mom of adult children who loves your kids… and yet you’re wondering what your role as a parent is now that they’re grown.

Hi, I’m Emily

As a mom of three, I’ve been through the trenches too. And as a professional therapist who has walked with dozens of women through motherhood, I’m here to tell you that you can be a great mom who loves your kids

and also needs a break now and then.

and also feels frustrated some days.

and also feels discontent at times.

…and also has dreams of her own.

These feelings don’t make you a bad mom. They make you a human with your own needs, feelings, desires, and limitations.

As a therapist, I get the honor of helping women just like you thrive in motherhood by empowering them to live out their role as mothers. I help women in every season of motherhood from pregnancy and postpartum all the way through moms of teenagers and adult children. Together, we can:

  • Learn what it looks like for you personally to thrive in motherhood, not just survive

  • Take steps to create your own happy and healthy family

  • Boost your confidence and help you rediscover who you are as a person (in addition to being a mom)

  • Discover what self-care looks like for you and practical ways to implement it

  • Recover from postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety

  • Identify your parenting style and become aware of its strengths and weaknesses

  • Explore how your own upbringing is influencing your parenting decisions

  • Identify what patterns you want to emulate from your family of origin, and what needs to be left behind.

  • Work through the transitions and challenges that come with parenting teenagers

  • Uncover and embrace your role in the lives of your adult children

I’ve never met a mom who didn’t need support. Whatever your season of motherhood, you don’t have to figure this out on your own—and you weren’t mean to.

  • "What truly sets Emily apart is the safe and judgment-free environment she creates for her clients. Opening up about personal struggles and vulnerabilities can be daunting, but she really fosters an atmosphere of trust and acceptance that allows me to be completely open and honest. I never feel judged or criticized; instead, I feel supported and understood every step of the way. At the end of every session, she always reminds me that therapy is hard work, and to be kind to myself. It is just the thing to help me carry on with my day, even after the heaviest of conversations. Emily demonstrates a remarkable ability to listen actively and offer insightful perspectives. Her guidance has been instrumental in helping me gain new insights into myself and develop healthier coping mechanisms. I always leave our sessions feeling empowered and motivated to work towards positive change. I cannot recommend Emily Zeller highly enough and I’ve seen so many positive changes in my life since working with her. If you're seeking support on your mental health journey, she is truly a gem and I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with her."

Postpartum Depression Treatment

You gave birth and welcomed your sweet newborn into the family. You thought you would be happy, but instead, you find yourself crying at random times and overwhelmed with deep feelings of sadness and guilt. Worst of all, you feel distant and disconnected from your new baby.

Many women experience the “baby blues” after giving birth, but if these symptoms and feelings persist, it’s possible you may be experiencing postpartum depression.

Postpartum depression symptoms* can include:

  • Feeling sad or having a depressed mood

  • Loss of interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed

  • Changes in appetite

  • Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much

  • Loss of energy or increased fatigue

  • Feeling worthless or guilty

  • Difficulty thinking, concentrating, or making decisions

  • Thoughts of death or suicide

  • Crying for “no reason”

  • Lack of interest in the baby, not feeling bonded to the baby, or feeling very anxious about/around the baby

  • Feelings of being a bad mother

  • Fear of harming the baby or oneself

If these symptoms describe your experience, please know that you are not alone. One in seven women will experience postpartum depression. While serious, this condition is treatable.

Don’t wait to seek treatment. As a licensed therapist, I am trained to provide postpartum depression treatment to new moms who are struggling and support them through this difficult season.

Take just one simple step forward by booking your free consult today. From there, we’ll work together to chart a path toward your recovery.

Online Therapy for Moms

What to Expect:

Step 1: Schedule your free consultation.

It’s important that you feel connected to your therapist in order for treatment to be successful. This consult is set aside for us to meet each other virtually and decide if we will be a good fit before moving forward.

Step 2: Share your story and set goals.

Next, we spend the first few sessions discussing the challenges you are currently facing, defining your goals for therapy, and establishing a plan for treatment.

Step 3: Get to work.

Once we have an understanding of where we’ve been and where we want to go, it’s time to get to work! I rely on well researched approaches such as systems theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to tailor a treatment plan for your unique needs and situation. I can also collaborate as needed with other healthcare providers if you are recovering from postpartum depression or anxiety.

Step 4: Wrap up and determine follow up frequency.

The duration of treatment varies from person to person and is determined based on the goals set in therapy. Many moms appreciate having semi-regular follow up appointments to “check in,” even after reaching their initial goals. We’ll discuss all of these options together and come up with a plan and frequency that meets your needs.
