ENGAGED
Premarital Counseling
Have you decided to get married or are looking to ask someone the big question? Congratulations!
I work with engaged and newly committed couples at all stages of their relationship (wedding planning, financial planning, future planning and more), to help improve their communication, understanding and care for one another. Afterall, it’s not just about the wedding. It's about the marriage.
Let’s work together to create a solid foundation of trust, connection and authenticity. I want to collaborate with you both to help ensure that as a couple you’re ready to face both easy and hard conversations, while enjoying a deep and loving bond with your future spouse.
Any new relationship can come with its own set of trials and tribulations.
How it works
I use the #1 rated premarital inventory and couple’s assessment tool, Prepare/Enrich, to best prepare you for a happy and fulfilling marriage!
Through the PREPARE/ENRICH program, you and your future spouse will discover the strengths and challenges present in your relationship. We will focus on expanding your relationship skills to work through difficult issues and prevent major problems from developing.
Pre-marital counseling will help you:
Learn
How to strengthen communication and conflict resolution skills
Address
Financial planning and budgeting
Explore
Relationship roles and expectations
Process
Family of origin & friendships that may impact your relationship now or in the future
Discuss
Issues related to parenting, sexuality, & spirituality
Examine
How your unique personalities fit together and how they impact your relationship
…and much more!
What to expect
After our free consultation, you will both take an online assessment. The assessment is scientifically reliable and valid, which means it provides accurate and objective results that help you talk about what really matters in your relationship. The inventory will help you and your partner identify your unique strengths, and differences, which we will discuss together in future sessions.
You schedule 4-6 sessions, on average, and we will walk you through your results and facilitate productive conversations you both need to strengthen your relationship.
Subsequent Sessions
Couples are typically able to review their results and finish pre-marital counseling after 6-8 sessions, with the option of more sessions in the future, if interested. Sometimes the process fosters the ability for a couple to talk about an issue they may have been avoiding. This is exactly why premarital counseling is so important. It’s great to work through issues now to prevent major problems.
Build a strong foundation for a happy & healthy marriage
Couples who participated in some form of premarital counseling had a 30% greater success rate for longevity and happiness in their marriages than couples who did not.*
